Stop Online Misinformation

Pledge & Commitment

Our Pledge to stop online misinformation

Together, we — the global community who create, share and engage with information online — pledge our commitment to truth, integrity, and the protection of the information that shapes our societies.

We recognize that while we live in the most connected moment in human history, trust in what we see, read, and share has never been more fragile. We understand that misinformation travels faster than truth, that false narratives divide our communities, erode confidence in our institutions, and cause real harm to real people — to our health, our economies, and to one another.

We acknowledge that the digital space is not someone else’s responsibility. It is ours. Every click, every share, every comment is a choice — and together, those choices impact the world we live in.

Today, in answer to the Digital Cooperation Organization global campaign: “Stop Online Misinformation: Ctrl + Alt + Del”, we make this pledge — before our families, our communities, and the generations who will inherit the digital world we leave behind:

  • CTRL — We will Control our sources. We pledge to pause before we trust. We will seek out credible, evidence-based, and authoritative sources of information. We will verify before we believe, and we will believe before we share.
  • ALT — We will Consider Alternatives. We pledge to look beyond a single point of view. We will consider alternative perspectives, seek context, analyze and evaluate information carefully before forming conclusions, and challenge our own biases. We will remain open to different viewpoints and think before we react.
  • DEL — We will Delete the spread of falsehood. We pledge to stop misinformation in its tracks. We will not share what we have not verified, we will respectfully correct false narratives when we encounter them, and we will report harmful content where we find it.

We make this pledge not as a single act, but as a daily practice. We commit to passing on the values of honesty, critical thinking, and digital responsibility to our family members, youth, our colleagues, and our communities. We stand together as one global society — diverse in voice, but united in our refusal to let falsehood divide us.

Through us, truth is protected. Through us, trust is rebuilt. Through us, the digital world becomes a place worthy of the generations who will inherit it.
